Generated from the source code of JBrowser 1.5.0.

How JBrowser is started, generated from _parse_args() in jbrowser/app.py.

JBrowser.exe [URL ...] [--profile-dir PATH] [--incognito] [--no-restore] [--debug]

Options#

Option Meaning
URLS … URLs or search terms to open
--profile-dir PROFILE_DIR Keep all data in this folder (portable mode)
--incognito Start in a new incognito space
--no-restore Do not restore the previous session's cards
--debug Verbose logging to the console

Internal options (used by JBrowser itself): --wait-pid. --wait-pid PID makes a restarted copy wait until the old process has exited.

Unknown options are passed on to Qt and Chromium unchanged.

Environment variables#

Variable Read in Meaning
APPDATA paths.py Where roaming data lives (%APPDATA%\JBrowser).
JBROWSER_ADDED_CHROMIUM_FLAGS app.py Internal: the Chromium flags JBrowser added itself, so a restarted copy can drop them again.
JBROWSER_CONSOLE_LOG app.py Also print the log to the console (like --debug, without verbose logging).
JBROWSER_SKIP_UPDATES app.py Don't check GitHub for updates.
JBROWSER_SKIP_WELCOME app.py Don't show the first-run welcome (useful for test profiles).
LOCALAPPDATA paths.py Where caches live (%LOCALAPPDATA%\JBrowser\Cache).
QTWEBENGINE_CHROMIUM_FLAGS app.py Extra Chromium switches (JBrowser appends its own). --disable-gpu helps with blank pages on unusual GPUs.
QT_MEDIA_BACKEND app.py Set to windows by JBrowser: sound effects use the native backend, not FFmpeg.
QT_WIDGETS_RHI app.py Set to 1 by JBrowser: widget windows are composited with Direct3D from the start.
QT_WIDGETS_RHI_BACKEND app.py Set to d3d11 by JBrowser.
